UAE to Tighten Penalties for Pedestrians Violating Traffic Rules Starting March 2025

Starting in March 2025, the United Arab Emirates will enforce stricter penalties for pedestrians who violate traffic rules. According to the updated federal road safety law, violators will face not only fines but also possible jail time.

The UAE authorities announced that pedestrians whose actions lead to traffic accidents could be fined between 5,000 and 10,000 dirhams (approximately 265,000 rubles) and sentenced to imprisonment. Particularly severe measures are set for those who cross the road in unauthorized areas on roads where the speed limit is 80 km/h or higher. Such violators will face at least three months in jail and a fine starting from 10,000 dirhams, even if their actions do not result in an accident.

For travelers wishing to move freely around the UAE, car rental services are available through the abrc.ae website. The platform offers a wide range of vehicle categories to suit different needs and budgets.

Options include economy, mid-range, luxury, and SUV models, with prices starting from 210 dirhams per day. This allows visitors to explore the Emirates comfortably and safely, whether they're looking for an affordable compact car or a premium SUV for maximum convenience.
